Tim Amann X-Tet

The Tim Amann X-Tet is a group of West Midlands based musicians who play melodic and soulful contemporary jazz. They have had various additions over the years but the original quartet consists of Tim Amann (piano), Sam Rogers (saxophone), Adam Gilchrist (bass) and Carl Hemmingsley (drums). Their influences range from folk to soul to gospel.

Tim Amann began playing jazz semi-professionally when just 15-years-old. In the late 80s and early 90s he was a regular at The Cannonball in Digbeth, then Birmingham’s only “jazz pub”. Tim brought the X-Tet together in 1995 as an outlet for his original composition.

Aside from performing in the X-Tet you may also recognise the four core members from the award winning Walsall Jazz Orchestra. Collectively or in the form of various side projects the band have played with a range of great stars including Soweto Kinch, Wynton Marsalis, Art Farmer, Bobby Shew and Tim Garland. The band is here in Moseley having recently finished a tour in Europe.
