Oya Batucada have brought the spirit of Brazil to the streets of Birmingham. The group’s ‘mestre’ John Richards co-hosts the Viva Brazil nights at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath and has been providing samba workshops around Birmingham for many years. Oya Batucada are the city’s premier Samba band and last year they opened Artsfest from the main stage of Centenary Square. This year they’re sure to have folks at Mostly Jazz up on their feet enjoying the samba beat.
