Cymande II

30 June 2010

The original Cymande released several eclectic funk albums in the early 1970s but in 1974 the group went their separate ways.

Since then their music has been a treasure trove for samplers; most notably the track ‘Bra’ was used by De La Soul, Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash.

Two of the original band members, Sam Kelly on drums and Jimmy Lindsay on lead vocals, were reunited in 2006 for a performance in Brighton. Since then Cymande II were formed.

In October 2009 the group celebrated 35 years of Cymande music with a sell out event. Tracks like ‘Brothers On The Slide’, ‘The Message’ and ‘Bra’, make this is an opportunity to relive a great period in the history of deep funk.
