AFTERPARTY: David Rodigan & Leftfoot

Official Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Afterparty on Friday 6th July at Hare & Hounds Kings Heath, Birmingham!

We are delighted to be hosting this official afterparty with our good friends over at Leftfoot. This will be the place to be one the festivities in Moseley Park have come to a close for the day.

For over 35 years, David Rodigan has been the top-dog in the bass-heavy atmosphere of Britain’s reggae dance-halls. The key to his success has been an unsinkable passion for reggae music, which first took a hold of him as a schoolboy when he heard ska music in the early ’60s. Rodigan began his reggae broadcasting career in 1978 on BBC Radio London. In 1979 he went to Capital Radio, broadcasting his legendary ‘Roots Rockers’ show for eleven years. His credibility was ensured when he began clashing with Jamaica’s champion DJ, Barry G on JBC Radio in Jamaica. He then went on to clash with all the top Jamaican sound systems in the West Indies, the USA and England. He plays unique collection of customised dub plates and classic recordings extensively across the globe to loyal reggae fans of all ages, from New York to Tokyo, Berlin to Kingston Jamaica.

Birmingham DJ duo Adam Regan and Matthew Beck, have been promoting and DJing in and around the Midlands for over 2 decades under the guise of Leftfoot. Leftfoot is widely acknowledged to be one of the Midlands premier leftfield and underground music club nights. Musically, the Leftfoot residents sound is very much of the ethos that it must have an element of soul and warmth, whether that be house, techno, disco, boogie, afro or garage, taking influence from the likes of Mr Scruff, Floating Points, Moodymann and Theo Parrish for playing sets that know no musical boundaries.

Doors open at 10pm and tickets can be purchased here (this is a separate ticket to our main festival entry tickets).
