Take a listen to Jake Henry’s latest EP ‘One of the good guys’, and you may believe you are hearing a classic record. Jake admits himself that he naturally writes in a classic format simply for the love of those perfectly crafted songs from the 50’s to the 70’s.
Working as one of Birmingham’s busiest session players, performing nationally and worldwide, Jake has honed his skills as an instrumentalist and performer taking influences from many genres of music. That said, listen to Jake’s music and you will hear jazz, funk and blues subtly oozing from it. Asked how he would feel if one were to suggest his music sounds a little bit Stevie Wonder Jake explains, “That is the biggest compliment anyone could ever pay. If I can get close enough to even remind you of Stevie, I’m happy with that”. Then asks, “How about Bill Withers”?
Writing prolifically, Jake is happiest in the studio and admits he is so lucky to work with such amazing musicians who make it possible to create and perform original music in a world that is getting tougher and tougher for unsigned artists. Jake and the band are currently working hard completing an album ready for 2017 summer festivals and events and can’t wait to share some music with you.
