12th – 14th July 2024. Moseley Park, Birmingham.

Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival is now in its 14th festival in Moseley Park. Each year we try our best to improve on the last, and judging by the size of our audience and the positive feedback we’ve had from our regulars we tend to get most things right.

A diverse, vibrant UK festival, celebrating ground-breaking, innovative UK music alongside international trailblazers. Showcasing unsigned acts right next to well-established international artists makes for a really exciting bill. We’re a festival for all, having one of the most diverse festival crowds with plenty for you to discover.

An independent festival, each year put on for the love of music, community and friendship, giving us all the chance to see acts in a much more idyllic and intimate setting. Previous artists include legends like Chic feat. Nile Rodgers, Public Enemy, Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Candi Staton, De La Soul, Cymande, Sun Ra Arkestra, Matthew Herbert Big Band, Jimmy Cliff, Roy Ayers, Burt Bacharach, Fat Freddy’s Drop, KC & The Sunshine band and The Specials over the years and with each year, and your support, getting better and better.

FESTIVAL VENUE

Today Moseley Park is run as a charitable trust by a group of local residents. The Park is a stunning 11-acre woodland glade in the heart of Moseley Village, Birmingham, only 2 miles from the City Centre, but is a world away from city life. Because the ground slopes down into a natural amphitheatre in front of the beautiful lake, it is the perfect setting for a festival.

Moseley Park is adjacent to the Village. Therefore convenience shops, newsagents, restaurants, pubs and cash machines are all nearby. The Park is home to a huge variety of trees and plants and supports a wealth of wildlife. It also holds one of the Midlands’ best-preserved ice houses. A kind of eighteenth-century refrigerator, this was used to preserve food and serve ice to the Moseley Hall owners.

The park is also home I AM YOGI studio, a dedicated space for yoga practice surrounded by the trees and tranquillity of the beautiful park. The purpose-built studio opened in October 2018 and runs a schedule of classes 7 days a week from Basics to candlelit Restore. Whether you are a practising yogi or have never set foot on a mat, there is a class for all in a welcoming and relaxed environment surrounded by nature.

PARK MEMBERSHIP

The Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival’s annual contribution is vital to the upkeep of Moseley Park. Anyone can become a key-holder of this beautiful park, not just local residents. Unlike public parks, Moseley Park is independent and receives no financial support from any local authority and relies instead on membership subscriptions to operate and maintain the Park for the benefit of the local community. All subscription income goes directly to Moseley Pool and Park Trust. If you’d like to find out more about becoming a Moseley Park Member, click here for details of park membership,
