The Volko Trio

The Volko Trio is a unique family Jazz band composed of Hector (age 12) on the Vibraphone, his sister Calypso (age 9) on the Drums and their father, DJ French Kriss aka MULTIFUNKSHUN on Keyboard and Synth Bass. Together they play an exhilarating mix of tunes from every era, as well as their own compositions in Soul, Latin and Jazz. Their music appeals to every age and background.

The children are multi-instrumentalists, Hector plays piano, drums, Latin percussion and has taught himself to play the vibraphone, while Calypso plays drums, piano and bass guitar. They are home-educated allowing them to focus on their passion for music. They started playing live three years ago and soon got booked for Latitude, Reload Festival, Norwich Rocks, plus events in London, Paris and the South of France. And not forgetting local gigs in their home county of Norfolk.

Last November the trio supported Roy Ayers at the 2017 Cambridge Jazz Festival, and Hector blew the audiences mind when he was invited to play onstage with the legend himself in what turned into an epic Vibes duel. It was seen by many as the highlight of the festival. Hector was also invited to join Dame Evelyn Glennie in her percussion masterclass for young adults, at the same event.

The Volko Trio has already collaborated with superstar drummers Manu Katché (Peter Gabriel, Eurythmics, Sting etc) and Ash Soan (Robbie Williams, The Voice) and is in a long-term relationship with Jack Tyson Charles. With a growing following in real life and online, the Volko Trio are a little band about to get big!
