Gabriella Liandu is a Zambian-Scottish singer and creative, passionate about the versatility and malleability of the voice. The Mezzo-Soprano takes her roots in performing within the Opera world. Gabriella completed her Vocal and Operatic studies, graduating with First Class Honours in Music, followed by a Masters (with Distinction) in Jazz, from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, winning the B:Music Jazz Prize (prev. known as the Jazzlines THSH Final Year Prize for Overall Excellence in Performance and Leadership) and the award of Leverhulme Arts Scholar.

Being raised in the Middle East, her strong cultural upbringing and eclectic background is reflected through her artistry and style as a writer and performer. Her experience covers a wide range of genres with her repertoire expanding from Early Classical to Choral, Modern Jazz and more.

Gabriella has recently recorded for BBC Scotland, performed in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, and made her London Opera debut with Waste Paper Opera as The Historian in Dead Cat Bounce at Somerset House.

The artist made her Jazz debut at Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2021, after selling out Eastside Jazz Club for her self-produced Bossa Nova/Classical crossover show Juntos A La Par. She has since formed her own quintet, performing original works and arrangements to sold-out crowds. In March 2022, Gabriella sold out her first B:Music Symphony Hall gig with the Gabriella Liandu Quintet.

In 2018-2019, she was appointed by Jeffrey Skidmore as an Ex Cathedra Student Scholar, touring and performing with the prestigious choir all over the country. She is currently working with the choir as a Graduate Scholar and frequent soloist.

In 2020, Gabriella joined Lichfield Gospel Choir as their assistant musical director, working alongside Themba Mvula — they have since been shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.

Gabriella has also forged her own way in the musical world off-stage, building her off-stage presence through delivering workshops and singing lessons, as well as working with Birmingham Opera CompanyWelsh National Opera CompanyVache Baroque Festival and Music of Life in music-making and opera taster sessions, focusing her efforts on the budding talent in Birmingham, through outreach in the West-Midlands communities and beyond.
